FEATURING the most kick-ass ensemble cast ever assembled, The Expendables has begun shooting in Brazil. Sylvester Stallone is of course behind the project, writing, directing, producing, starring and maybe even making the sandwiches for he and his fellow action movie heavyweights.
Yeah, probably not that last bit … But the vein-poppin’ goatee-wearing 62-year-old is certainly cooking up a storm with a promise of one helluva of an explosive picture.
Co-starring Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Eric Roberts, Stone Cole Steve Austin, Randy Couture, and others, the story centres around a team of mercenaries hired to overthrow a South American dictator.
Oh, and Old Sly’s great rival of the ’80s, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is to be in there somewhere too.
That, and by the looks of Stallone himself, the extravaganza is certainly set to ‘inject’ a fair amount of macho-ism into the release schedule of 2010.
Empire Online has just published the first pictures from the movie, featuring a straining Stallone, Stallone and Statham looking like tourists above and, as movie website Ain’t it Cool pointed out, what appears to be Austin and Roberts holding hands as they both jump from an explosion. Cute.
