Personally, I think they would be better off using Pine as the Kyle Rayner version of the green lantern. (not just because he is also named Kyle) Now, if anyone else has had the privilege of reading the Green Lantern: Sleeper Novels, which I found to be phenomenal reads. It gives you a glimpse of Hal Jordan, Kyle Rayner, and Alan Scott. In the Sleeper Series, all 3 versions of the green lantern co-exist in this reality and frankly, here’s what I've noticed: The Alan Scott scenario has a better opener, with Alan being trapped after a train bridge collapsed and he luckily located the battery which saved his life. The Kyle Rayner scenario had this mid twenties freelance artist who came upon the ring in a nightclub and learns the hard way that being a super is not what he originally thought. The Hal Jordan scenario just seems like another take at the love story and the whole key to telling it correctly is how they handle the Ferris (corp.) situation and his career as a fighter pilot. Personally I think that the Alan Scott & Kyle Rayner tie-in would work out perfectly since it was Alan’s own daughter the Kyle Rayner falls in love with (all according to the sleep series) and there is a lot more flexibility to the script since naturally they will want to make Sinestro the first villain. (Although his character seems like it will require more concentration than Hal’s character as trying to give a egomaniacal traitor an adequate history is a tuffy.)
