While I was off looking for something else I came across this trailer for the film, “Battleship”. It did exactly what a movie trailer is supposed to, got me excited and intrigued to actually see the movie.
The film stars Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights) as Alex Hopper who is engaged to Samantha Shane portrayed by Brooklyn Decker (Just Go With It). His brother Stone is portrayed by Alexander Skarsgard from True Blood. They are both in the Navy and their commanding officer Admiral Shane (Liam Neeson) just happens to be Samantha’s hard-nosed father.
They all go out on an International Naval Drill in the Pacific Ocean. During this training mission they spot an unknown object in the distance that is also invisible on radar. They send in a team on small rafts to investigate. Once the team arrives things become even more unclear as to the origin of the craft. That is until it comes to life and begins to attack. It turns out it is the ship of an alien race known as “The Regents” that has come to earth to build a power source in our oceans.
It really looks like an exciting new alien movie.
One other note that will probably lead to the movie breaking some records is that singing superstar Rhianna is making her film debut as a weapons specialist on the main ship in the movie, the U.S.S. John Paul Jones.
